If we talk about cities, what usually comes to mind are busy streets, traffic, dust, heat, and tall buildings. But what if sabihin ko sayo that there’s a place in Cagayan de Oro City—High Ridge CDO—na malamig, not polluted, relaxing, and offers an overlooking view? Nestled in Bontula Upper Macasandig, a peaceful escape within the city, along with a breathtaking panoramic view of Cagayan de Oro.

Pagpasok mo pa lang, the place already feels nice and cozy. Nakakatuwa din that there are several photos framed and displayed there that tell the history of Cagayan de Oro City and what it looked like before. And as a local who grew up in Cagayan de Oro City, it’s delightful to look at those photos. Here are some of the displayed photos below.

Even their restrooms are impressive—Yung mapapatanong ka if CR ba talaga to or rainforest exhibit? LOL. Yung restrooms ay nasa loob ng building pero open yung isang side, kaya kita mo yung mga halaman at parang may outdoor feel pa rin. It gives off a very natural habitat vibe.

High Ridge CDO Guide: What to Expect

The High Ridge entrance fee is 100 pesos, and 50% of it is consumable. Yes po, they have a restaurant there where you can order food, and outside food is not allowed. They also have function halls both upstairs and downstairs for events like weddings and meetings. If you look at their official Facebook page, they have already catered numerous wedding events. In fact, when we visited, there was actually a wedding happening upstairs.

While the High Ridge menu is a bit pricey, but there are still some budget-friendly options like their suman and sikwate, which are really delicious.

The ideal time to visit High Ridge is around 4 PM so you can catch the sunset, and then stay into the evening to see the city lights. High Ridge is open from 3 PM to 9 PM (Monday to Thursday), 3 PM to 10 PM (Friday), and 11 AM to 10 PM (Saturday to Sunday). They also have a telescope there where you can zoom in on buildings—just drop five pesos to use it. They also have a pool, but we didn’t ask about the price since that wasn’t our main purpose for visiting.

This High Ridge review gives an overall experience of 9/10. The view is absolutely beautiful, but visiting can be a bit expensive because of the entrance fee and the pricey food. We were also not very satisfied with the nachos we ordered. You’re also not allowed to bring your own food. However, I really loved the sikwate. If you’re looking for a relaxing place with a great view, this is definitely worth visiting.
